New conditions for visits and enjoyment of the museum

The San Telmo Museum reopened on 2 June, following its closure due to the crisis caused by the coronavirus.

What are the museum's opening hours?

The usual: Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 h to 20:00 h.

Is there a free admittance day?

Yes. As usual, there is free admittance every Tuesday all day, and admittance will also be free on Sunday afternoons after 16:00 h.

On all other days the general admittance price and the reduced price will be the same: 6 € and 3 € respectively.

What measures has the museum taken?

The measures taken by the museum focus on the safety of visitors and employees, and are geared towards a pleasant tranquil visit to the facilities:

  • Utilisation of face masks is mandatory.
  • Museum capacity has been restricted to one third of the total capacity, and room capacities are also monitored.
  • The distance between persons must be at least 2 metres.
  • A route has been marked for the permanent exhibition to avoid any close encounters.
  • Visitors under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • No audio guides are available for the visit. The museum is making preparations for an option to offer these contents so that individuals can download them to their mobile phones free of charge.

Which exhibitions can be visited?

The exhibitions which were open when the museum closed. The termination dates for the temporary exhibitions have been extended.

Are there any guided tours and conferences?

The museum has not yet introduced bookings of group tours.

The museum will arrange conferences or similar activities online. Information will be provided concerning these activities in the website agenda and the weekly electronic bulletin, among others.

Is the museum library service available?

Yes. The library is opened as usual,  guaranteeing health and hygiene conditions at all times. Moreover:

  • Applications for book lending and bibliographical queries by e-mail on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and/or by phone on 943 481569 (10:00 h to 14:00 h Tuesday to Friday, and also on Tuesdays from 16:00 h to 20:00 h).
  • Items lent out may be deposited in the box next to the library door, where they are collected and taken to the quarantine area.

Is the Urgull History House open?

No. The three Urgull centres – History House, Nature Unit and Summer Library – will not be open in view of the difficulty involved in guaranteeing proper compliance with health measures.

However, the museum has developed a map and a mobile application with a route and the heritage and natural attractions of Urgull and a route along the mountain. The map can be purchased at the museum counter.

The museum's recommendations

  • Use credit cards for payments.
  • The museum will not be publishing a hard-copy agenda in the months ahead, but each week it will provide information on activities and museum news in the museum's electronic bulletin. Sign up for the bulletin if you wish to be kept informed.
