Juan Miguel de Orcolaga was vicar of Zarautz and the founder and director of the Igeldo Meteorological Station. The following inscription can be read at the base of the work: "P. ORKOLAGA / ENBATAK ARRO ZEKARRENEAN / ITXAS GIZONEN GALPENA / OIUKA GARAIZ SALATU ZUAN / ERASO AIEN KEMENA / ARRIGARRIAK BAI ZIRAN BERE / JAKINDURIA TA SENA. / KANTAURIAREN KOLKOAN DABIL / ORKOLAGAREN IZENA".
