Bust of Catalina de Erauso.
The work was erected to commemorate the 400 years since the birth of Catalina de Erauso. It was unveiled on 7th July 1993, one year after the centenary, in the place where the Convent of the Dominicans of Antiguo used to be. This is where Catalina de Erauso spent 11 years, and where she ran away from when she was 15 years old. The artists are members of the Aia Workshop. The portrait attributed to Pacheco (1630) was used as a model for the work. On the base, the following inscription can be read: "CATALINA DE ERAUSO / "THE NUN LEIUTENANT" / Donostia - San Sebastián 1592 / Quitlaxtla (Mexico) 1650".
