The Orfeón Donostiarra choir, within the acts to mark the 25th anniversary of the death of the Maestro Secundino Esnaola, decided to make a gift to the city: a stone bust of the Maestro Esnaola, by the sculptor Beobide (approved by the Board of Directors of the Orfeón Donostiarra on 10th October 1954). The bust was delivered at a concert, which was part of the commemorative acts, held at the San Telmo Museum on 23rd October 1954 (a provisional bust was handed over at this act). The commemorative acts were paid for by popular subscription. The City Council undertook the construction of the base, which was carried out by the company Tomás Altuna e hijos, S.A.. The sculpture was unveiled on 23 November 1958. The following inscription can be read on the base: "TO / ESNAOLA / DIRECTOR OF THE / ORFEON DONOSTIARRA / 1878 - 1929". .
